Amplia has today announced that a patient from the Company’s ongoing ACCENT clinical in advanced pancreatic cancer trial has now recorded a pathological complete response (pCR) - an extremely rare observation in this patient population.

During routine assessment of tumour burden for the patient in question, it was noted that there had been a significant reduction in the size and number of hepatic metastases (secondary tumours in the liver) and in the primary tumour in the pancreas, allowing the medical team to surgically remove the tumours.

Pathological examination of the removed lesions revealed no live tumour tissue, confirming what is medically classified as a pathological complete response (pCR).

A pCR is an exceptionally rare outcome in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer that has metastasised to other organs. While approximately 5% of patients with earlier-stage, non-metastatic pancreatic cancer may achieve pCR with standard neoadjuvant chemotherapy, such responses are uncommon in advanced pancreatic cancer populations.
